Palmer High School Wrestling
Team Rules
Head Coach Dale Ewart 745-7331
Asst. Coach Don Malone 745-1566
We as coaches of the Palmer wrestling team have developed
these rules as the foundation for a successful team. We need the cooperation of both you and your parents regarding
the following rules of participation.
Please feel free to contact myself or coach Malone with any concerns
that you may have.
General :
- We
respect others and ourselves at all times. This includes team members, parents, coaches, administrators,
teachers, and referees
- We
give 100% effort at all times
- We
represent Palmer High School wrestling at all times.
- We
are Honest, reliable, and responsible individuals.
Attendance:
- We
expect you to attend practice daily.
You will be allowed three unexcused absences during the entire
season. Upon the fourth absence, it is grounds for removal from the team.
- If
you are more than 45 minutes late, it is considered an unexcused
absence. If you are late for
practice you will be required to run 15 extra minutes for every tardy.
- According
to district policy, you will be expected to be in school for all classes
the day of and directly following the day of competition. Failure to comply will result in you
being ineligible for competition.
- All
absences will be unexcused except those involving a religious activity,
family emergency, medical treatment, sickness, or any other prearrangement
that has been approved by the coaching staff. In the event of an excused absence, you will be required to
contact one of the coaches by phone or by letter from your parents upon
your return. In the event of
medical treatment and or illness, a note may be required.
- If
you are not feeling well and you are not going to practice, we ask that
you please take the time to contact one of us and let us know
personally. Coach Dale will be in
the football/wrestling office every day from 2:00 p.m until practice or
call later that evening so that we are aware of the situation.
- Wrestlers
with an unexcused absence during the week will not be allowed to wrestle
off or participate in the following weekend’s competition.
- Wrestling
is a sport in which you will acquire bumps and bruises and an injury that
requires missing practice will require a doctor’s notification to resume participation in either practice
or competition.
Misc:
- Hazing
will absolutely not be tolerated.
- You
must notify me or another member of the coaching staff before leaving an
event with your parents. A written
note from your parents is preferred so that I can have an accurate count
of students that will not be on the return bus.
- On
all away meets, you are expected to stay with the team at all times and
will be under the direct supervision of the coaching staff. We will stick together at all
times. Leaving the team or failing
to follow instructions will be grounds for dismissal from the team.
- All
district handbook and school rules will be strictly adhered to.
- In
order to eliminate the possibility of skin conditions developing,
showering at the school after practice is strongly recommended. The changing of work out gear every few
days will be required and will help fight the development of these
conditions.
- It
is also strongly recommended that you bring a lock to the school so that
you can lock up your valuables at school.
Stealing by team members will not be tolerated, and is immediate
grounds for removal from the team.
- Profanity,
tobacco, alcohol, harassment, and disrespect do not represent Palmer High
School, the team, the city of Palmer, or your coaches and will not be
tolerated. Infractions of this
type will be dealt with on an individual basis.
- Any
act that is detrimental to another individual will not be tolerated and
will be grounds for dismissal from our team!
If a situation arises not specifically
addressed above, the coaching staff reserves the right to make the final
decision.
- Practice is daily from 2:30 -5:00 p.m. on upper track
- Wrestle offs will be on Thursdays beginning at 4:00 p.m.
- Requirements for lettering:
10 Varsity wins or qualification for state.
Acceptance of Team Rules
I have received a copy of the team
rules. I have read these team rules
over with my parents, and by signing this paper, I agree to abide by these
rules and be subject to any punishments that I may incur due to rule infractions. I agree to have a positive attitude, be
respectful, and coach able at all times, and most of all, I agree to have a lot
of fun as a member of the Palmer High School Wrestling team. Again, if you have any questions, or
disagree with any of these rules set forth, please do not hesitate to contact
on of the coaching staff. Please keep
the first two pages for you records and return the third page by Friday October
24th. Thank you, and I look
forward to another great year of wrestling.
